Fix Outgoing Connection Errors - Thunderbird

This tutorial will instruct you on how to configure Outlook Express to work with Internet Service Providers that do not allow connections on port 25.

The most common error this fixes is the relay error 550 5.7.1.

Step 1 - Open Account Settings

Open the Tools menu and select Account Settings.

Step 2 - Modify Account

In the left side of the screen, select Outgoing Server (SMTP).  Select your email address from the likst and click Edit.

Change the port number from 25 to 2525.

Click OK on both screens to save the changes.
